Founded in 1987 as a broker-dealer providing trading and investment banking services to the mortgage banking industry, Rafferty Holdings, through its subsidiaries, has evolved into a renowned, diversified financial investment and wealth management firm specializing in deploying customized strategies, supplying expert advice and analysis, and delivering proven results, to a wide range of clients.
The firm consists of Rafferty Capital Markets, Hilton Capital Management and Rafferty Asset Management, with locations in New York City; Boston; Jupiter, FL.; Milwaukee, WI; and Garden City, NY.
President & CEO
Michael Rafferty is the President and CEO of Rafferty Holdings. Prior to joining the firm in 1999, he was a senior bond trader at Merrill Lynch in New York.
He is very active with outside business organizations, including Founder and board of directors of Ampliforce (www.ampliforce.com), board of directors of Next Level Derivatives (www.tirrf.com), and board of directors of Marstone (www.marstone.com). Michael is also an investor and incubator of several tech/media ventures.
He is actively engaged with a number of charitable organizations, including Board of Directors NYU Langone Hospital System, Chairman NYU Langone Long Island, executive committee and former president of Little Flower Family & Children’s services, board of advisors of Chaminade High School, and board of directors Nassau County Crime Fighters, while also supporting many other organizations.
Michael graduated from Boston College (B.A., History) in 1991 where he was captain of the Men’s Tennis team. Before BC, he attended Chaminade High School on Long Island. He is married with two children and lives in Garden City, NY.
After leaving Solomon Bros. in 1986, Mr. Rafferty founded Cohane Rafferty Securities Inc. (CRSI), an investment banking firm, which was sold to Lehman Bros. in 2001. Prior to Solomon Bros., he was divisional president of West Point Pepperell.
In the time surrounding CRSI’s acquisition, Mr. Rafferty oversaw the launch of several other businesses, and Rafferty Holdings was created.
He was a proud graduate and longtime trustee of Fairfield University.
